Alice

I call her Ms. Alice…

While I write this I hear this small little sound behind me, I turn around and Ms. Alice has climbed out of her bed and is sipping water.

Many months ago I started feeling as though my family was missing something. Well as I was working one day I came upon the Suncoast Animal League, thought that I would go in and see if they wanted to join their local Chamber of Commerce, little did I know that they had what I was missing! As I wandered around looking at all the wonderful cats, one little bit of a cat, small and scared took a shine to me. Needless to say we both knew right then and there we were meant to be a family. I took her home and soon she took over the house and put my dog Bou in her place.

I have to tell you all that Ms. Alice (which coincidentally is also my 95 year old grandmother’s name) came to us shy and timid, but now she can’t wait till it is bed time because she sleeps in the big bed but won’t lay down to sleep till she has had a proper head scratching, and she will let me know when it is proper enough! She has many beds through out the house, many hiding places and is not afraid anymore as she goes from room to room just to see what is going on. Her appetite is healthy and her meows are getting louder as she lets me know she is here and part of this family.

Thank you Suncoast Animal League for rescuing my precious Ms. Alice and making my family complete!

May 20, 2008 Update
I feed Bou my dog in the dining area and Alice in the office. Anyway Bou would go for a walk and run in to guard her food, go out on the porch and run in to guard her food! I used to think that Bou was just being picky – then one night Bou went to bed early in the bedroom and Alice was up running around and I watched Alice, she went to Bou’s food bowls and drank her water and ate her food!!! Now I know why Bou guards her food – she is not crazy or being over protective – Alice is a pig and steals her sisters food!!!!
