Eve

My name is Eve, as in Adam and…. I am the first female animal rescued by the new Suncoast Animal League. I know you are interested in my story, but I would rather not dwell on the past as it wasn’t very pleasant. I will say briefly that I spent a lot of time in some kind of a cage and have the broken front teeth to prove it. I was always trying to escape to find a better life for myself and my son, Harley. I had quite a few babies in my 7+ years, but they were all taken away somewhere.

On the day we got out, we ran for a while and then we began to wander. Being an inside dog, I had no idea where we were and Harley was not a hunter and pretty clueless. With noses to the ground, however, we persevered and, in the end, our beagle instincts did not fail us. We found a nice man who gave us food and took us with him to work. He couldn’t keep us, though, so he contacted the Suncoast Animal League and arranged for them to pick us up.

Poor Harley had contracted heartworms while living outside. The Suncoast Animal League is treating him, however, and he will be fine. They took me to the doctor so I won’t be having anymore babies. I’m okay with that as long as Harley is safe. We have made a lot of new friends since we arrived here, including Adam the cat and Dakota the dog. Harley and I even taught Dakota to beg like us beagles, no small feat for a Dalmatian mix.

Update on Eve
Good news...I've been adopted by a family that saw me on television during the Suncoast Animal League's Grand Opening. The next day, after my big television debut, my new family rushed to the shelter to meet me. Dad had always wanted a Beagle but never had the great fortune of having one, until I came along! They liked me so much, they took me home that very day and decided to call me "Miss Annie". I like my new name. It's fitting to have a title since I'm such a proper lady! Together we're a happy family and I'm well taken care of. They simply love me to pieces! Just read what they wrote about me...

Here are some pictures of Miss Annie, formerly known as Eve, at Christmas time. She is very much loved and accepted as part of the family. She has such a wonderful temperament and is very fond of our young granddaughter. Thank you so much!
