The following update is from Larry, a Suncoast Animal League volunteer and rescue worker. He entered the house on April 7, 2008 and knows first hand of the living conditions the 121 dogs were subjected to.

In two years of working an animal emergency van I came to find out that most animal cruelty cases were caused by ignorant or greedy people. The ignorant can be taught. The greedy need to pay the price. Perhaps one day we will change the legal status of the animals so as to allow for harsher penalties for those who bring such suffering upon these truly precious gifts, and maybe deter others from following suit.

No living thing should have to live in the conditions those dogs were kept in. Now, some months later, my sinuses are still in agony from the miasma we had to breathe for only a few short hours. They will heal in time, as will the dogs. Hopefully the rest of the experience will not weigh as heavily upon the dog's soul as it will mine, probably forever.
